The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001

The Terry Learning Center is an approved Supplemental Education Service (SES) Provider operating under the guidelines and regulations of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001. NCLB was established under President George W. Bush. The intent of NCLB is to improve the academic achievement of qualified students with state level educational accountability, flexibility, and choice, so that no child is left behind academically. As a SES provider we operate under the guidelines and regulations of Title I of NCLB. Title I focuses on ensuring that all American children have a fair and equal opportunity to reach proficiency on state required academic assessment and achievement standards.

In compliance with Title I, there are no costs to students who are eligible under Title I requirements for our program. Qualified families can enroll their child in supplemental educational services if the child attends a Title I school that has been designated by the state as needing improvement for more than one year. The term "supplemental educational services" refers to extra academic help, such as tutoring or remedial learning assistance, provided to students in the subjects of reading, language arts, and math. This additional help can be provided before or after school, on weekends, or during the summer.
